A Little About Us
Our Background & History
James Lawrence has worked in the engineering fields of Control Systems, Instrumentation, and Telecommunications for over 30 years primarily for the Oil & Gas industry. He is published in these fields and has two Patents.
A graduate of Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets, James has served in both the Army and the Air Force.
James and Margie have chosen the La Grange, Texas area as home. Margie operates a successful retreat center for ladies and James has put considerable time and resources into reinvigorating the Amateur Radio community in and around Fayette County.
Well-designed Controls and the proper application of Instruments are key to Safety and to profits. James has worked both sides of the table at engineering houses such as Fluor, Brown & Root, and Mustang. This experience includes all project phases from Conceptual Design through Start-up and Operations. This is the value that James brings to facility engineering and the reason James has founded Lawrence Control Systems LLC.

I have worked on both sides of the table at engineering firms. As an engineer, it is frustrating to see the high cost of engineering affect quality, safety, and operability. Deliverable pricing for data-sheets, calculations, and narrative specifications should be fixed – a single data sheet can easily cost $500 at an engineering firm. As an example, we can provide data sheets at a fraction of that cost. Instruments, Controls, and Logic must be efficient and limited to only what is required to accomplish the mission safely. Excessive and convoluted controls reduce MTBF and cause expensive shutdowns. It will always be my goal to provide straightforward, efficient solutions at a reasonable cost.
